Maths For Life

The Maths For Life programme provides a differentiated approach to the maths curriculum that lays down solid foundations, is framed in practical understanding, and delivers the essential maths needed for life.
At Maths For Life, we understand that the ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach doesn’t work and accept that learners see the world, and maths, in different ways.

Via the Oxfordshire County Council sponsored schools’ pilot during the 2023/24 academic year, the Maths For Life programme evidenced the effectiveness of the programme, with 93% of students increasing their overall maths attainment.

The results provide compelling evidence of how the programme can benefit a wide range of students with SEND and the staff supporting them.

The pilot report, available on the website, details the positive impact not only on maths attainment, but also in the wider context, including independence, self-esteem and reading

Here's what our users say -

“I am the Lead teacher for Maths in our SEN school across ages 5-16. Our school is mixed SEN needs and many of our children are autistic. I also have a MEd in Autism, so maths and autism are my areas of knowledge.  I have found the Maths For Life programme to be very successful and we have been using it for a couple of years with all of our children. In my own class, I find my autistic students love the predictability of the worksheets and style of questions.  This has helped them to become more independent with their work, knowing what they need to do.”  Jane-Liss Richardson, Maths Lead from Ellesmere College says

“Everything you have developed deserves so much respect for every minute, hours, years you have dedicated to pave the way for your maths curriculum that will impact so many children's lives for life! I feel so grateful to have found you, it's given me great confidence to support my daughter throughout the levels. She is doing well, learning at her pace and progressing through level 2. Sending you a big virtual hug of gratitude to you and your team.” Mandie, Parent

And our students

“100% feeling more confident” ~ Ollie

“I used to hate maths - I got so stressed. Now it is fun!” ~ Georgia

30% (37) of the pilot population were autistic students.  The results demonstrate that autistic students improved more in overall average attainment than the overall sample population.  Staff supporting these students identified that 81% of them improved their engagement in learning maths.
