Self Advocacy Toolkit for Autistic Young People
File

This toolkit starts by placing the autistic young person at the centre, then systematically delves into different areas of life to help them become adept at self-advocacy.

For each area, it offers tailored tools to assist them on this journey. Beginning with a clear explanation of what self-advocacy entails, the toolkit also provides practical guidance on how to use its resources effectively.

An invaluable aspect of the toolkit is the inclusion of insights from Autistic Young Experts. Their shared experiences provide authentic and relatable perspectives that can inspire and guide the user. The toolkit is structured to cover several critical areas: understanding oneself, creating enabling environments, fostering positive and effective relationships, and enhancing learning and development.

Through this comprehensive approach, the toolkit aims to empower the user with the skills and knowledge to advocate for themselves confidently and effectively.

It’s not just about understanding what self-advocacy is, but about putting it into practice in every aspect of your life, empowering you to take charge and make informed decisions for your well-being and future.

What you will learn:

  • What is self-advocacy.
  • Knowledge & skills to self-advocate effectively.
  • Improved decision making.
