Who is this module for?
For all staff who take a leadership role in early years education.
Learning objectives
The training will support you in:
- developing a full understanding of good autism practice
- evaluating and developing autism practice within your setting
- auditing staff knowledge and skills and identifying professional development needs
- understanding how the pursuit of good autism practice can support wider regulatory and good practice compliance.
Principles
The materials will be used to promote the following principles:
- Focus on difference and not deficit
- Have high expectations and promote positive attitudes to autism
- Focus on securing learning goals that are meaningful to the child and support positive outcomes
Please attend the AET Early Years Making Sense of Autism prior to signing up for this course
- Develop knowledge of Good Autism Practice.
- Understand the importance of working with others to support the child.
- Create and deliver a plan to ensure progress.
- Extend understanding of how you may support a young autistic child to develop and progress.
- Further reflect on reasonable adjustments that can be made to improve your practice in working with autistic children.
