Tool 9: Practical Tools; Supporting Learners with Transitions
This tool looks at the issues that can increase an autistic pupil’s anxiety when it comes to micro and macro transitions throughout their time in school. It supports you to think about how you can best support autistic pupils with transition.
This Tool will help you to:
- Work together with your pupil, their parents/carers and key staff and gather information on how to better support them
- Implement a transition support plan for your pupil using the suggested checklist
- Prepare your pupil for their transition with support strategies and share this information with their new setting
